naked prayers
Imagine the book of Psalms filled with doodles and accompanied by songs of intimate meditation. Naked Prayers is a contemporary take on an ancient tradition.
“Hauntingly beautiful and soft in tone, the songs have been written to correspond with the prayers and are incredibly raw in their honesty... The only word I can think of to describe Naked Prayers is ‘authentic’, which seems a little too Christianese-y for a project that’s so cliche free.”
— Christian Today
the Album
The album is a collection of 10 songs produced by 7-time Emmy Award winning producer Jamie Lawrence. The collection gives lyrics and melodies to deep longing and a quiet hope of redemption. The first song, You Saw Me, was also a commission from the Spark and Echo project — a modern gallery of honest expression from artists deeply engaged with Scripture.

the book
The book is a collection of prayers and doodles taken from Mara’s journal over a period of two years. The prayers follow a journey of following, fretting, falling, and finding. Fun fact: Mara learned graphic design to create this book, which was the beginning of a path that led to the birth of a branding agency (with the editor of this book!).
Kind Words
“Mara has written a delightful book on the honest nature of prayer, longing and connection with God. A fresh, honest, hopeful and whimsical vision of what it looks like to walk with God in these cynical times.”
— Jon Tyson, Founding Pastor of Church of the City and Author of The Burden is Light
“Though the title is bold, Naked Prayers, is written with delicacy and gentle understanding. Mara Measor’s story is truly a lesson by confession, one that everyone will appreciate. As the leader of a multi-faith community, I see a spirited universality in the book and album, doodles and all.”
— Rebekah Lyons, Author of Freefall to Fly
“Mara Measor’s Naked Prayers reads like a modern Psalter. Faith. Triumph. Doubt. Confession. More doubt. Celebration. Like king David of Israel, Mara sheds the thin veneer of a plastic faith and vulnerably reveals the honest rhythm walking with the Creator. If you want cliched and Christianeze answers to life, then this book isn’t for you. But if you want an authentic and honest reflection on the valleys and mountaintops of the Christian journey, then you won’t be able to put this book down.”
— Preston Sprinkle, Vice President of Eternity Bible College and Author of People to be Loved
“Life is messy and complicated, and so is keeping your faith intact when things turn south. Mara’s honest journey to encounter God, punctuated by her original music, is a must read for anyone who has wondered if God really cares.”
— Susan Diamond, Founder of Prayables
