What is Patreon?

Transcription.

I want to answer the question: what is Patreon?

Let’s look at the history of music business.

Fro thousands of years, musicians and artists were funded by patrons who believed in their work and their potential.

It’s really only been a very small period of time where this model has been disrupted by the modern music industry.

And now?

With the rise of streaming, and more recently a hit to live performances (hello Covid), musicians like me have had to be creative about how we can keep doing what we love to do, such as using a platform like Patreon.

So what is patreon?

Patreon is basically a subscription platform where you support the artists and makers you love in return for their ongoing creations.

You can think of it like a Spotify or Netflix subscription, except you’re subscribing from the person you want to be getting your content from — who is not a giant corporation.

What exactly do you get from it?

Different creators have different tiers that they offer, but what you can get can range from exclusive content, early access, free concerts, basically — the work.

What does the artist get from it?

Well, I get the holy grail: I get sustainability as an artist. And more important than that, I get an involved community who want to see my work thrive.

And that’s why I’m starting on Patreon. Click below to find out more.
